Didn't see any of it, Don. Just caught the result.
Jose has United marking zonally too - the fool  Caritas_05
I look forward to many debates over the coming months about the merits of such

Jose too?
Looks like a collective epiphany for the world, then...

Did you guys have to do this to us?
Why buy one of the most imaginative players, Mkhitaryan, and not play him?
...and that at a club not really blessed with much creativity?

It's Jose ffs! Everybody knows he kills creativity in his team. Funny he went with Mata though. Just one game still. Maybe his starting 11 isn't decided yet, maybe he feels like Mkhitaryan will do well with Pogba, maybe he's trying to ease him into the team? Who knows what the hatter is thinking! Will be fun to watch him succeed or fail. Either rubs it in or whines like a baby. Fun times ahead...

Jose doesn't do average.
He either gets it perfectly well or spectacularly wrong.
There's no middle ground with him!

The cynic in me tells me he hadn't picked Mata in good faith.
Methinks it was a case of giving a dog enough rope...

Either way he wins.
If Mata plays well, he gets credit for showing faith in Mata and not harbouring any grudges, if Mata doesn't perform then Mata has shown fans why Jose never trusted him

You have a point. Jose only looks out for himself at the end of the day. I really do think he won't last more than 2 years at United because I dont think he will win the title. The United fan in me hopes I'm spectacularly wrong though

I think he will but if past is any indicator then he starts losing his team in 3 season.
